OSTEOPATHY for little people with ANA MACKAY

Join us for our first coffee morning after the summer when we talk to the brilliant Ana Mackay about osteopathy as a gentle but effective way to treat many ailments in children!

Children can benefit from osteopathy at any age, in fact newborn assessments are the most common paediatric patients we see.

Consider osteopathy for:

  • prolonged labour
  • assisted birth (forceps/ventouse)
  • a “quick” or precipitous birth
  • prematurity
  • cesarean section birth
  • torticollis (head tilt)
  • plagiocephaly (flat head)
  • hip dysplasia
  • reflux and colic
  • sinusitis/recurring ear infections
  • gait issues (walking and crawling)
  • constipation
  • scoliosis (twisted/curved spine)
  • hypermobility
  • shin splints
  • Osgood-schlatters (knee joint condition)
  • Sever’s (heel pain)
  • growing pains

Ana Mackay BSc (Hons) Biology, M.Ost is a registered Osteopath with the British General Osteopathic Council since 2013.

She has worked in the NHS, prenatal clinics and prestigious Harley street clinics in London, before moving to Singapore and joining two clinics across the city.

She is also a qualified Yoga instructor (Tattvaa Rishikesh, India) and has worked alongside Women's Health Physiotherapists, Acupuncturists, Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors, IBCLC/lactation consultants, Pilates teachers and personal trainers to help provide the best care for patients.

Her passion is empowering women with their fertility, pregnancy and post-natal journey, in addition to aiding the early stages of development in newborn babies.

Ana has two young children and is currently studying Chemistry to further her knowledge of Biochemistry and the human body.

Osteopathy is a therapeutic treatment in which the Osteopath uses their hands to stretch, manipulate, articulate and mobilise your muscles, joints and ligaments in order to improve musculoskeletal symptoms. Symptoms commonly include pain, stiffness and swelling in and around joints, but they can also include postural complaints, headaches and abdominal dysfunction such as IBS, constipation and reflux, because the organs are innervated by nerves exiting the spine. We are similar to Physiotherapists and Chiropractors in that we use “manual therapy”, non-invasive treatment and we do not prescribe medication. Osteopaths observe your movements and detect balance between different areas of the body, mapping out connections from head to toe. We treat people of any age, from newborn to elderly patients. Osteopaths are also able to perform “check ups” and can refer for MRI, X Rays and other investigations if deemed necessary, as well as refer you to other specialists to ensure the best care for your case.
