June Workshop 1 - Be a Mechanic

  • Dates: 29-31st May
  • Time: 2-4pm

Class details for 3-4 yrs old:

Day 1:

  • World knowledge: How does a car look like? What different parts does it have?
  • Language: Recognising and writing the word 'car'
  • Numeracy: Recognising and writing the numbers '2' and 4' in its numerical and word form

Day 2:

  • World knowledge: Who repairs cars? What does he do?
  • Language: Recognising and writing the word 'mechanic'
  • Numeracy: Simple addition and subtraction (broken cars vs repaired cars)

Day 3:

  • Geography: Where do we drive the car to? (Simple map skills)
  • Language: Fluency and clarity in giving simple directions to reach a destination
  • Numeracy: Discovering numbers on licence plates

Class Details for 5-6 yrs old:

Day 1:

  • STEM: How does a car look like? 
  • Language and reading: What information can we get from a car advertisement?
  • Numeracy: Skip counting in twos

Day 2:

  • World knowledge: What does a car mechanic do and where does he work at?
  • Language: Constructing simple sentences about the job of a car mechanic
  • Numeracy: Comparing number of cars in the workshop (Graph skills)

Day 3:

  • Geography: Where do we drive the car to? (Understanding the neighbourhood map)
  • Language: Writing out a clear set of instructions to reach a destination
  • Numeracy: Discovering numbers in addresses and their patterns

June Workshop 2 - Be a Pilot

  • Dates: 5-7 June
  • Time: 2-4pm

3-4yrs

Day 1:

  • World knowledge: How does a plane look like? What different parts does it have?
  • Language: Recognising and writing the word 'airplane'
  • Numeracy: Counting the number of passengers in an airplane (Comparing more or less)

Day 2:

  • World knowledge: Who flies the plane? What does he do?
  • Language: Recognising and writing the word 'pilot'
  • Numeracy: Identifying the terminal numbers at an airport

Day 3:

  • Geography: Which countries does the plane fly to? (Matching flags to the right countries)
  • Language: exploring letter 'S' for Singapore
  • Numeracy: Exploring numbers on flight numbers

5-6yrs

Day 1:

  • STEM: How does a plane look like?
  • Language and reading: Exploring an instructional text (Take off instructions read out by the flight attendant)
  • Numeracy: Simple grouping and regrouping of passengers (multiplication skills)

Day 2:

  • World knowledge: What does a pilot do and where does he work at?
  • Language: Describing the flight of a plane Part 1
  • Numeracy: Time-telling Part 1

Day 3:

  • Geography: Which countries does the plane fly to? (Knowing about different continents and where some countries lie on the map)
  • Language: Describing the flight of a plane Part 2 (departing from, arriving at, transiting at)
  • Numeracy: Time-telling Part 2

June Workshop 3 - Be a Train Operator

  • Dates: 12-14 June
  • Time: 2-4pm

3-4yrs

Day 1:

  • World knowledge: How does a train look like? What different types of trains are there?
  • Language: Recognising and writing the word 'train'
  • Geometry: What shapes do you see on a train? (2D shapes)

Day 2:

  • World knowledge: Who operates the train?
  • Language: Alphabet train
  • Numeracy: Number and word correspondence

Day 3:

  • Geography: Where does the train go?(Looking at the train map)
  • Language: Discussing graciousness on the train with The Thoughtful Bunch
  •  Numeracy: Money-counting of $1 coins and knowing what they can buy with it (Number sense)

5-6yrs

Day 1:

  • STEM: How does a train look like?
  • Language: Short story-writing Part 1
  • Geometry: What shapes do you see on a train? (3D shapes)

Day 2:

  • World knowledge: Who operates the train and where does he work at?
  • Language: Short story-writing Part 2
  • Numeracy: Comparing number of stations among the different train lines (more than/less than)

Day 3:

  • Geography: Where does the train go? (Looking at the train map)
  • Language: Discussing graciousness on the train with The Thoughtful Bunch
  • Numeracy: Money-counting (Train trip purchase and budgeting)

June Workshop 4 - Be a Sailor

  • Dates: 19-21st June
  • Time: 2-4pm

3-4yrs

Day 1:

  • World knowledge: How does a boat look like? What different types of boats are there?
  • Language: Recognising and writing the word 'boat' and 'ship'
  • Numeracy: Ordering by size

Day 2:

  • World knowledge: Who sails the boat/ship?
  • Language: Emergent Reader Skills Part 1
  • Numeracy: Simple patterning

Day 3:

  • Geography: Where does the boat/ship sail on?
  • Language: Emergent reader skills Part 2 (The boat sails on…)
  • Numeracy: Number matching and correspondence

5-6yrs

Day 1:

  • STEM: How does a boat look like?
  • Language: Writing a recipe text-type 'How to build a boat' (materials needed and instructions)
  • Numeracy: Boat sorting into diferent types

Day 2:

  • World knowledge: Who sails the ship and where does he work at?
  • Language:' A sailor went to sea' rhyme
  • Numeracy: Simple multiplication (grouping and regrouping)

Day 3:

  • Geography: Which seas will the ship/boat sail on?
  • Language: 'Row row row your boat' nursery rhyme
  • Numeracy: Exploring the use of compasses to navigate and their numerical directions

  • MRT

A mere 3-5 minutes walk from Buona Vista MRT Station (CC22/EW21). Take Exit D to MOE Headquarters, and Busy Tables is diagonally across. 

  • Bus

Buses: 74, 91, 92, 92M, 95, 191, 196, 198, 200 

  • Self-drive / Taxi

It takes about 15 minutes to drive here from the City. There are open air, basement as well as multi-storey parking.

  • Via Central Expressway (CTE) from the City:

Take the CTE towards AYE 
Take exit 8 at AYE and turn right onto North Buona Vista road 
Turn left into Rochester Park.
