Present Pampered Peaceful - Celebrate Self Mother's Day

Present Pampered Peaceful - Celebrate Self Mother's Day

Every day is Mother’s Day, but as the keepers of schedules, appointments and routines for everyone else, we often leave ourselves off the to do list.

All but one day of the year, that is. So we invite you to join us on the 11 th of May to be reminded that taking time to be Self…Centred… is not selfish. We will share some calming ways you can nourish and nurture your body and mind throughout the year, and show you that giving yourself permission for self-care is vital to your ability to care for others. A practice to take away for every day.

Canvass brings together people that have the ability to inspire you in their heart-warming approach to wellness and women’s health. A space where art, yoga and mindfulness combine in unique and beautiful ways, so you may connect with others and reconnect with yourself. On Mother’s Day we are offering two hours respite from the outside world, in our lovely Bukit Timah studio, to care for ourselves and our children through…

  • Gentle and restorative yoga
  • Meditation and the art of sitting
  • The ancient and tactile craft of macramé
  • Ayurveda self massage with essential oils
  • Herbal tea and conversation

From 10am to 12.30pm give yourself the gift of time. Enjoy being present for yourself while effortlessly being present for your children, in the same calm and engaging space. No planning ahead is required and there is nothing else you need to do but be open to an opportunity for completely guilt-free peace and pampering.

We will begin with gentle yoga using restorative postures designed to revitalize and honour your life-giving body. Led by Carolyn Sivaram, one of our experienced instructors, this will include guidance in supporting pelvic floor muscles and awakening the spirit of womanhood. Carolyn is passionate about women’s physical and mental well-being and specialises in safely applying pre and post natal yoga to improve and restore the body, no matter how far before or after childbirth you may be.

Once the mind is calmer and the body more aligned, Jolie Michelle Ow will explain the subtle but effective art of sitting - a useful skill for comfortably preparing you for successful meditation. Jolie is the gentle and knowledgeable Founder of Canvass, a yoga instructor, and a consultant and coach in the arts. She has seen the healing transformation that can occur when we connect with the child inside ourselves, so she brings a playfulness and innocence to her teaching, making meditation accessible.

Following a lovely state of bliss, we discover the soothing practice of Ayurvedic self-massage with Dr Sairupa Krishnamurti, Naturopath at City Osteopathy and Physiotherapy. Using plant and floral essential oils, Dr Sairupa, a mother herself who is passionate about the ways naturopathic medicine can support women through their reproductive years, will explain the importance of massage for uterine health.Through self touch we can generate our own healing, and Dr Sairupa will show us an effective hand and foot massage technique that we can administer on ourselves, called marma.

As we come back together with our children we will discover that they have been making a stunning and unique Mother’s Day gift for us to take home, while they have enjoyed expressing their creativity, boosted their self esteem, improved their hand-eye coordination, and relieved stress, all thanks to artist, Darya Sokolova. Darya has over 20 years experience as an artist and providing workshops, and has recently become enamoured with the resurgent and tactile craft of macramé.

Before you go home and adorn your home with this heartfelt gift, stay a while and share some tea and conversation. It’s Mother’s Day and you are right where you need to be, celebrating the essence of womanhood. Just be.

Supporting this special Mother’s Circle is Leila Ceceres Ng, a Lamaze certified childbirth educator and doula, who will be on hand to offer to support to any expectant mothers.
