Mid-Autumn Treats at Old Chang Kee

Old Chang Kee's NEW Salted Egg Taro Mochi'O

Building on the popularity of its Salted Egg Taro’O, Old Chang Kee has given the festive favourite a playful makeover with the addition of mochi, introducing a soft, stretchy and pleasantly chewy texture to complement the rich and creamy filling. The result is a delightful combination of savoury, sweet and chewy textures, all encased in Old Chang Kee’s signature round flower-shaped puff pastry.

Four Layers of Festive Indulgence

The Salted Egg Taro Mochi’O brings together four key elements, each contributing to its unique taste and texture:

1.    Salted Egg – Rich, Savoury and Distinctly Festive

A familiar favourite in traditional mooncakes, salted egg lends its signature rich and savoury flavour to the filling. Its subtle saltiness helps to balance the natural sweetness of the taro, creating a moreish flavour profile that keeps you coming back for another bite.

2.    Taro – Creamy and Comfortingly Sweet

Creamy taro forms the heart of the filling, bringing a naturally sweet, earthy flavour and smooth, luscious texture. The taro complements the savoury salted egg beautifully, creating a satisfying sweet-and-savoury combination.

3.    NEW Mochi – The Unexpected Chewy Surprise

The newest addition to the Salted Egg Taro’O is mochi – introducing a soft, stretchy and pleasantly chewy bite into the filling. As you bite through the pastry, the creamy taro and salted egg filling is complemented by the distinctive chewiness of mochi, adding an unexpected textural contrast to every mouthful.

4.    Round Flower Puff Pastry – A Festive Symbol of Blessings

The festive filling is wrapped in a delicate, round flower-shaped puff pastry, giving the Salted Egg Taro Mochi’O its distinctive appearance. At the centre is the Chinese character “福”, meaning “blessing” or “good fortune” – a meaningful symbol of Old Chang Kee’s wishes for happiness, togetherness and blessings during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

At just S$3.80 for one or S$6.80 for two, the new Salted Egg Taro Mochi’O offers an affordable way for customers to enjoy the flavours of the season or pick up a few pieces to share and gift to family, friends and colleagues.
