Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations 2021 will kick start from 23 January to 12 March 2021 with streets light-up as its key highlight.
Chinatown Festivals Organising Committee is committed to continue the Chinese traditions and celebrations to bring festive cheers to everyone.

Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations 2021 Official Light-Up and Opening Ceremony
- Date: 23 January 2021 (Saturday)
- Time: 8.00pm – 8.50pm
In view that we are still in the midst of fighting Covid-19 and to avoid any crowd gathering, Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations 2021 Official Light-up and Opening Ceremony will be launched virtually and live streamed on Chinatown Festivals Facebook Page. The launch event will also feature lion dances, cultural and acrobatic performances.
Street Light-Up
- Date: 23 January – 12 March 2021
- Time: 7pm – 12mn (Daily)
- Venue: Along New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street and South Bridge Road
This year street light-up will feature sculptured lanterns of the Ox, gold coins, golden ingots, flowers and greetings, etc., combining traditions with modern design, visitors will be enthralled by the creativity of the contemporary street light-up design.
Chinese New Year Short Films
- Date: Mid-January onwards
- Venue: Chinatown Festivals Facebook and Instagram Pages
Enjoy three specially produced short films featuring renowned Chinatown Merchants such as Bee Cheng Hiang, Kele and Spring Court. The short films will bring the audience through a journey on the preparation of various Chinese New year’s delicacies and how these delicacies came to be associated with the festival and traditions.
Chinatown CNY2021 Online Activities
- Date: Mid-January onwards
- Venue: Chinatown Festivals Facebook and Instagram Page
A series of giveaway activities and interesting content to learn about and celebrate our Chinese New Year and traditions.
There will also be a photo collage activity that will be taking place in early February for some family-bonding fun!
360 Virtual Tour and Heritage Trail
- Date: End January/Early February onwards
- Venue: Chinatown Festivals Website
Chinatown 360 Virtual Tour is back for a second edition, featuring the Chinatown CNY Street Light-up as we celebrate the Year of the Ox.
In addition, you can also enjoy the virtual Heritage Trail, where our volunteer guides will bring you through various points of interests in Chinatown. Look out for the microsite by early February.
