Gateway Theatre celebrates its first birthday with a fun and colourful birthday party! Join us at our regular Gateway Kids Club where we will be "up-sizing" all the play and activity for kids just for this extra special celebration!
In the Black Box theatre, there will be a kids show that features a giant balloon and giant puppets! The show opens with our friend Jon Danger, a magician who will show-off his incredible giant balloon trick. This is followed by the intriguing story of The Spineless Jellyfish and Cunning Monkey, a Japanese folk tale adapted by Samantha Scott-Blackhall and performed by Actress Amy Cheng.
Find out why jellyfish have no spine and monkeys are so cunning in this story about a brave Jellyfish sent to the land to bring back a monkey's heart for the Mighty Sea Dragon King!
After that, the Diploma students from Lasalle College of the Arts, alongside their director Bright Ong, will perform their interpretation of The Spineless Jellyfish and Cunning monkey story using giant puppets. It’s going to be quite a spectacle!
This show is considered a “Relaxed Performance”. It is designed to be inclusive for those with autism, mobility disabilities and have hearing impairments. A sign-language interpreter will be translating the story live.
At the Sky Garden, Gateway Theatre’s roof top garden and outdoor stage, there will be a Carnival with interactive games, food, arts and crafts, face painting, balloon sculpting, a juggler AND a mermaid! Win prizes, run around in the free-play area, grab some snacks from The Bakery Chef stall or make a special craft out of paper bags and stickers! There’s lots to see and do!
