Join us for a batik painting spree on the final day of exhibition Of Wax, Dyes and Labour! Get hands-on experience with fabric dye painting on a 2-metre fabric.
Note: This is a communal painting session, adult supervision for children below 7 years of age is recommended.
This programme is part of visual art exhibition Of Wax, Dyes and Labour showing on 19 Jan to 9 Feb.
Of Wax, Dyes and Labour is an artistic response to Batik. 7 artists of different practices will be presenting new works, paying homage to the traditional art form that is considered obsolete and labour intensive in contemporary times.
Artists translate, juxtapose or amalgamate their work into elements found in Batik - from its techniques, processes, materials, motifs and usage
of the fabric. The exhibition features new works by Aklili Zakaria, Almostasthma, Amirahrau, Lee Wan Xiang, Shane Ng, Yang Jie and Fajrina Razak.
