Tales from the Nusantara: Timun Emas

Tales from the Nusantara: Timun Emas

Listen to the mystical story about a brave girl who was born from a magical cucumber and her valiant efforts in escaping and defeating the Raksasa (The Giant/Ogre).

This retelling of an Indonesian folktale 'Timun Emas' (The Golden Cucumber) will be brought to you by Malay Heritage Centre (MHC)'s docent and storyteller, Hafiz Rashid. Discover and learn more about Malay cultural gems such as batik and kuda kepang, a traditional Javanese dance featured in the story.

You will also grow your very own magical cucumber and learn more about other interesting vegetables during the tour at the Centre for Ethnobotany.

This session is organised by the Malay Heritage Centre in collaboration with the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
