Rites of Us - A Community Programme on Grief Literacy, Interfaith Understanding, and Shared Humanity
Rites of Us is a new community arts festival. Through theatre, music and participatory experiences, it creates safe, compassionate spaces for people to reflect together on love, loss, remembrance and the diverse rituals that shape how we grieve.
By building grief literacy, the festival opens compassionate conversation around a universal human experience — honouring the many cultural, faith-based and personal ways people mourn and make meaning, while creating common ground in multicultural Singapore.
There will be a public talk exploring how children understand and express grief, the signs adults may overlook, and how parents and caregivers can respond with greater honesty and sensitivity conducted by Darren Cheng, CEO of Direct Funeral Services on 1 November 2026.
