Talk by Lloyd Matthew Tan: Daily Nonya Dishes

Talk by Lloyd Matthew Tan: Daily Nonya Dishes

Matt Tan is the author of Daily Nonya Dishes (Laok Hari Hari: Heritage Recipes for Everyday Meals). In this talk, he will cover the origins and culture of nyonya cuisine.

Learn about the forgotten terms used by the older generations of Babas and Nyonyas to describe their cuisine. Find out the origins of the food. Explore how dishes served in Baba homes encompassed the happy, sad and ceremonial occasions of life. Discover a little-known category of Nyonya food - the simple but tasty dishes served every day in a Baba home.

The book will be launched to the public at the Gunong Sayang Association on 19 November 2017. Copies will be available for purchase at the talk.
