International Day of Play

International Day of Play

For nearly 17 years, Playeum, together with our growing network of advocates, has been harnessing the power of play to engage and empower children and their communities across Singapore. The International Day of Play is an important affirmation of our collective mission and recognition of a child's fundamental right to play, even in the darkest moments.

Playeum is proud to support this exciting play movement alongside a dedicated network of global organisations, experts, and most importantly, more than 10,000 children themselves who have lent their powerful voices to shape the resolution - including children whom we have gathered insights from in Singapore as part of our partnership with the LEGO Group.

We want to take play further. Beyond a day to celebrate play, we are also saying YES to:

  • Creating more opportunities for children to learn, develop essential life skills, and enhance their well-being through quality, playful engagements.
  • Ensuring that children, regardless of differences and backgrounds, have a voice on matters that concern them and their communities.
  • Developing spaces that are diverse, inclusive, and safe for all to access, especially the most vulnerable and marginalised children.
  • Building greater capacities in individuals and communities to integrate play into education and informal settings through training, community development, and policy shifts.

We cannot do all of these alone. If you believe in this work, we invite you to join us on this journey that is central to our children’s learning, well-being, and future.
