Madagascar Totem Pole

What’s a totem and why do some cultures create totem poles?

Get ready for a cultural immersion with this hands-on (toxic-free) clay workshop.

Children will be discovering 3D ratio and proportions through sculpting with references to animals in the Madagascar animation.

They will learn about color value and gradations as they apply the right paint techniques to achieve a primitive finish—giving their totem pole a native story to share!

Join us on this 2-day journey to push your creative boundaries by learning to combine your art resources into one beautiful creation.

Ages: 7 and above

Duration: 4 hours

Culture fact: Some totem poles represent stories or important events. On these poles, each figure on the totem represents part of a story.

These totems are used as a way to record the history and legends of the tribes.
