Did you know that Singapore is a home to over 300 species of butterflies? Join to learn more about this fascinating order of insects and the rich diversity around us!


 
This will be followed by a guided tour of Butterflies Up-Close, Singapore’s first indoor butterfly sanctuary. You will get to observe at close range the spectacular beauty of live butterflies including the Common Rose, Singapore’s national butterfly.

10.45am: Arrival at Science Centre (main lobby)  

11.00-12.00pm: Talk followed by Q&A

Speaker Profile- Dr Anuj Jain 

Former Chairman – Butterfly & Insect Group, Nature Society Singapore 

Dr Anuj Jain is a tropical ecologist and conservation biologist with expertise in conducting field and modelling-based ecological studies particularly on butterflies and birds. His doctorate thesis focused on species extinction trends, nectar-ecology, dispersal, and habitat enrichment strategies of butterflies across different land use types in Singapore. Anuj was Chair of the Butterfly & Insect Group at NSS from 2012 to 2016 where he led projects such as the “Vote to Select Singapore’s National Butterfly”.
