Dance Jambo! Workshop For Parents/Caregivers And Children

Dance Jambo! Workshop For Parents/Caregivers And Children

In this workshop, parents/caregivers and children will experience Dance Jambo, a child-led creative dance and play session based on Rolypoly Family’s approach.

Then, Rolypoly Family dance artists will share with parents/caregivers how they might replicate Dance Jambo in the playgroups, co-ops or at home. Craft activities and minders will be on hand to occupy the children during the sharing and discussion.

In Dance Jambo, children aged 4-6 years experience the fun and pleasure of being creative and expressive with their bodies, and learn about getting movement inspiration from the specially selected music. Each of the music tracks corresponds with a different movement quality, such as slow/fast (tempo) and high/low (pitch).

A Dance Jambo session begins with a warm-up and a practice of the ground rules, followed by facilitated movement exploration and concludes with a closing circle. The fundamental principle of Dance Jambo is to set clear boundaries for the children so they have a secure base to be free and creative.

Dance Jambo is a work-in-progress TAG Groundbreakers initiative.
