Weekends at The Artground 13 - 14 October

Weekends at The Artground 13 - 14 October

The Artground has a variety of age-specific drop-in programmes on the weekends that participants will get to enjoy!

From 30 August April 2018 to 6 January 2019, children between 0 – 12 years will get to experience play space HULLABALOO – an explosion of colours, patterns and shapes in a whimsical lanscape. Taking cues from the natural environment, Hullabaloo encourages children to see the space from different perspectives, imagine a world of magic, and immerse themselves in the kind of fun that beats at the heart of creativity. Entry into The Artground itself is free and donations are encouraged.

TAG Drop-in Programmes

Every weekend, The Artground organises a variety of age-specific drop-in programmes that participants will get to enjoy on a first come, first served basis, inside Whitebox. Each programme will be charged at $10 per parent-child pair. You can purchase a single ticket, TAG cards for 5 or 10 + 1 sessions at $50 and $100 respectively at the reception. There is no registration for these activities as they are first come, first served. An announcement will be made 5 mins before each programme and the first XX number of children in the queue will get to enjoy the programme (XX refers to the age-specified & capacity of the programme, ie Little Green Thumbs is for the first 20 children from 2 – 4 years old).

13th October, Saturday

  • 10.30am - A Little Here, A Little There by The Kueh Tutus (Crawlers, 5 - 12 months): Let your baby make his/her mark on this performance. Dancers trace the babies’ trajectories; drawing inspiration from their movements to form mini duets.
  • 11.30am - Arty Crafty - String Art Painting (3 years and up): Make a unique postcard or greeting card by dipping string into different coloured paint and using the pulled string technique. The possibilities are endless.
  • 2.30pm - Cardboard City by Stan (Strictly Pre-walking babies): An exploration for pre-walking babies to inhabit and extend their spatial awareness amongst the everyday materials in this City designed just for them.
  • 3.30pm - Thumpety Thump by Bounch and The Band (5 years and up):  A fun and energetic percussive experience where kids get to try hand held instruments and jam with the band.

14th October, Sunday

  • 10.30am - Dance Playground with Rolypoly Family (4 - 8 years): Dance Playground is where we explore dance and movement through unusual play structures and get (a little) messy. We play games that transform dance and movement into visual forms. What do wiggles, jiggles, and squiggles create?
  • 11.30am - Terrific Tales by The Storytelling Centre Limited - Goblin Tales (3 - 7 years): The perfect introduction to the art of storytelling especially for little listeners, followed by a simple craft activity. This month, we’ll be telling Goblin Tales.
  • 2.30pm - Nadam Mini by Little Creatures (18 months and below, limited capacity): Is a work-in-progress designed as an immersive performance for babies and their parents/caregivers to experience sounds outside of their daily lives. Babies and their parents/caregivers will have the opportunity to interact with the performers, explore objects that make sounds and experience performances of different musical instruments not commonly seen in modern society.  This work is part of a doctoral research study. There will be video/photo documentation for academic research purposes. Parents/Caregivers will be required to sign their consent for video/photo documentation. (Limited to 15 babies)
  • 3.30pm - Here. There, Where? by The Kueh Tutus (4 - 8 years): A performance and a game, where the children decide where the dancers go and figure out what the dancers want, to get to the next level.
  • 4.30pm - Bitesize Little Creatures (5 - 30 months): Explore, experiment and simply experience with musicians in spontaneous musical play! Each session features live musicians as they explore creating meaningful sounds with babies.
