Beneath the ocean’s waves lies a secret world waiting to be discovered. The Grass That Flowers invites children into the amazing world of the humble seagrass meadow — a wondrous underwater community teeming with life.

Where marine science meets the art of dance, this fantastical performance reimagines familiar sea creatures as magical water spirits. Meet the mischievous sea gremlins who bully minuscule fish; the generous eight-armed weaver god who knits protective blankets of seagrass for juvenile fish and more! Mayhem ensues when human disruptions turns the seagrass world upside down. All sea deities, kind or mean, will have to band together and fight for their community’s survival.

This performance is brought to life by a dynamic cast of professional dancers from ARTS FISSION and children performers. The show translates complex ecological concepts — such as conservation, ecosystem, and anthropogenic impact — into a magical and accessible learning experience for children.

— Interactive Pre-show —

There will be a 15-minute interactive introduction before each performance, curated by TeamSeaGrass. Children will get to see local seagrass species and learn about the amazing wildlife that lives in Singapore’s seagrass meadows.

Please note that the pre-show session will begin at 10:30am for the 11:00am performance, and 1:30pm for the 2:00pm performance.
