Resonance Across Borders – SJ60 Concert

Resonance Across Borders – SJ60 Concert is a special Singapore–Japan collaboration concert presented in celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan (SJ60).

Bringing together leading artistes from both countries, the concert features internationally acclaimed Shamisen virtuoso Hiromitsu Agatsuma, renowned pianist and music director Takuro Iga, Tokyo-born, Singapore-raised singer-songwriter Sachiyo, and Singaporean artistes Nathan Hartono, Samuel Wong and Govin Tan. Together, they create a unique musical experience where the musical cultures of Singapore and Japan meet, interact and resonate.

Rather than a programme of individual performances, the artistes come together to collaboratively reinterpret representative works from both countries through fresh arrangements and interpretations. Spanning a wide range of musical styles — from traditional music to contemporary popular music, film music and anime-inspired repertoire — the concert explores new artistic possibilities through cross-cultural collaboration.

Widely recognised for bringing the tradition of the Shamisen to international audiences through innovative collaborations that transcend genres and musical boundaries, Hiromitsu Agatsuma joins fellow artistes from Singapore and Japan in an extraordinary musical dialogue that celebrates both tradition and innovation.

Presented as part of SJ60, Resonance Across Borders offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience Singaporean and Japanese artistes creating music together on one stage. Through familiar melodies, new arrangements and artistic exchange, the concert celebrates sixty years of friendship between the two nations while looking towards the future of cultural collaboration.

Don't miss this unique SJ60 collaboration as acclaimed artistes from Singapore and Japan come together to create an unforgettable musical experience that transcends borders, cultures and genres.
