Deconstruction Illustration: Botanic Illustration Workshop


Join us as we bring to you to you a fascinating night of learning how to illustrate botanical life!

 

Taking place at Lyf@SMU, this workshop organised by Visual Arts Centre is aimed for beginners to pick up on illustrating botanical life, as one of the common living subject found around us. This workshop will also teach participants methods of looking into various subject matters, from still life into living things.

At the end of the session, stay tune to have an interesting QnA session with the artists herself and find out more about what inspires her art and illustrations!

Look forward to bringing home your very own botanical illustrations and also high quality pens, brushes and markers.

Programme Outline*:

  • Introduction to illustration art (various styles, popular media, notable artists)
  • Familiarising with materials: papers, ink/pen (Different pens and brushes for different types of expression, Pairing Ink/Pen with paper based on paper grain and thickness, Brush strokes with various brush pens, ballpoint pens)
  • Creating basic 2D, 3D form (Basic Geometry shapes – flat, curved surfaces, edges, Basic still life items – flat, curved surfaces, edges)
  • Creating parts of a flower and leaf (Deconstructing the flower and leaf, Translating organic form into illustrative style)
  • Picking out subject matter, sketching out various angle and configuration
