Worn out by a year of changing rules and restrictions surrounding international travel and a certain Global Health Event (GHE), Santa has decided that he's “getting too old for this stuff” and makes a startling announcement in the latest North Pole Weekly Mail (NPWM): he's hanging up his boots and retiring to a hermitage.
Thrown into despair and panic by what this means for the future of Christmas and children around the world, the elves of the Unexpected Crisis Department (UCD) try to brainstorm how to deal with this situation. Along the way, they reminisce about travelling, contemplate the meaning of life... oh, and sing many songs to feel their feelings and cheer each other up. Will this quirky bunch of elves manage to figure it all out? Or will Christmas come crashing down like that year with Santa and the narcoleptic reindeer?
Join the elves of the UCD as they follow the news of the NPWM and try to navigate their way around the GHE, learning more about themselves, their friendships, and the Christmas spirit in the process.
About 7/8 Musical Collective
The 7/8 Musical Collective (read as “seven eight”, after the time signature) is a contemporary musical theatre collective interested in the creation, incubation and development of new works and artistic practices. Made up of professional musical theatre nerds with decades of industry experience locally and internationally, we believe musical theatre to be a great form of entertainment for diverse audiences, and that it isa meaningful and effective medium for people to immerse themselves in a different world and reflect on the world. This is what we hope to bring to our audiences. That, and some good ol’ musical entertainment, of course!
This is a pilot trial performance with limited seating capacity which may vary depending on the venue. No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
