Join Singapore’s first full-time female vocal percussionist Cherie Chai in this workshop as she introduces the concept of sound definitions!
Through this hands-on session, Chai helps increase your sensitivity to drum sounds and rhythms, as well as encourage better understanding of the elements of contemporary a cappella.
This programme is suitable for aspiring learners and drummers of a cappella groups.
Cherie Chai
Cherie Chai is the first full-time female vocal percussionist (VP) in Singapore, and is the resident VP for Singapore a cappella groups 1023 and Key Elements. Chai is also the music director and resident arranger for 1023, which featured in the 8th ASEAN Para Games opening ceremony.
As an educator, Chai is the conductor of several Singapore school choirs, and coaches tertiary a cappella group SUTD Vocomotives. She also frequently conducts vocal percussion workshops for schools, sharing her love for the art form with youths.
