In this talk and demonstration, participants will experience an original take on Chinese calligraphy with a twist of virtual reality.
Using both traditional calligraphy and virtual reality as mediums, Master Yong Cheong Thye and Malik Bin Mazlan will discuss their understanding of Chinese calligraphy according to their individual perception of reality, cultural backgrounds and artistic philosophy.
About Yong Cheong Thye
Master Yong Cheong Thye is an acclaimed calligrapher who specialises in both traditional and contemporary Chinese calligraphy. He has won several calligraphy competitions and his works have been displayed all across the globe. Yong is still actively creating works and promoting Chinese calligraphy both in Singapore and overseas.
About Malik Bin Mazlan
Malik Mazlan is a Singaporean Malay calligrapher whose interest in Chinese calligraphy has brought him throughout Asia from Tokyo to Beijing. As a young Chinese calligrapher, it has always been an aspiration of his to use the skills and insights obtained from Chinese calligraphy and arts to reflect a multicultural society.
