About Kodaly Academy of Music Singapore
The Kodaly Academy of Music Singapore (KAM) was founded as a passion project in order to explore avenues of music education, while promoting musical excellence. KAM’s first focus was to act as a bridge for the Kodaly Institute of the Liszt Academy of Music (Hungary) in promoting the Kodaly educational concept in Asia, via the biannual Asia Kodaly Symposium. Apart from international education events, KAM has since extended its work in Singapore to include running local masterclasses for music professionals and choirs, coaching of school and community choirs, providing performers and choirs for-hire, event production, as well as music creation and distribution.
About Albert Tay
Composer-conductor Albert Tay is a musician, educator and adjudicator. Apart from guest conducting, he has delivered keynote lectures and professional development courses for musicians and educators alike. Tay’s work has taken him to numerous cities in Asia, Europe and USA at the invitation of award-winning choirs, as well as various national institutions, associations and foundations.
As founding director of Kodaly Academy of Music (Singapore), he oversees the arts company that has been spearheading the Asia Kodaly Symposium. Tay was conductor for the premieres of Dr. John Sharpley’s chamber opera The Tanglin Tree and Luo Mai Shuo’s Fighter Writer Yu. He was chorus master for a live-to-screen projection of Lord of the Rings, Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman, Kingdom Hearts World Tour and Arvo Pärt PASSIO: St John Passion in the Dark at A Tapestry of Sacred Music 2019. Tay was also awarded the professional title of Magister Chori and is an honorary member of The Association of Croatian Choral Directors.
