More than just a circus, Phare performers use a combination of theatre, music, dance and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories, delighting audiences with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm and talent.
All performers are graduates of the Ponleu Selpak’s vocational training centre in Battambang. The association was formed in 1994 by nine young men who returned home from a refugee camp after the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime, and aims to provide young people from underprivileged communities in Cambodia with training in different art forms and employment opportunities.
