When we lose our way between the past and the present, can we still dream? Can we still love? When the one you love no longer remembers you, can you still care for them?
An accomplished author is diagnosed with dementia. He only remembers the events of the bestseller book he wrote about being a father to his youngest son. The youngest son in the book has now matured into a professional, seeking his footing in the corporate world and trying to make a mark for himself instead of living in his well-known dad’s shadow and being labelled as just the boy in the book. As his father’s memory fades , the son has to learn to care for his father, even though his father cannot remember him any longer. Through recollections of happier times from his childhood written in the book, the son eventually regains the capacity to love and dream.
Adapted from the heartwarming essay collection My Little Boys by Taiwanese writer Luo Yijun, and featuring a talented cast led by award-winning thespian Lee Tien-Chu, The Long Goodbye takes us into the heartbreaking world of a father with dementia and his family.
Following the successful run of The Way Of Zhuang Zi at Huayi 2019, gain a little dose of positivity and cement your bonds with your family through this moving theatre production at Huayi 2020 with Story Works’ The Long Goodbye, which has touched thousands of audiences across Taiwan since 2018.
