I Can Do Anything

I Can Do Anything

I Can Do Anything

With International Women’s Day just around the corner, there’s no time like the present to explore the history of how gender roles have evolved through toymaking. Gain insight on how the creator of Barbie founded a company, and learn about the story about the girl who inspired Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. No matter who you are or how old you may be, you have the power to do anything you set your mind on!

Programme
Learn about influential toys made by and representing women! This 1.5-hour tour and workshop will inspire you and your children with stories of determination and courage. Witness how famous female individuals defied all odds to pursue their passion or to make an honest living through the simple art of toymaking at MINT Museum of Toys, where the toys spark that nostalgia and serve as a window through time for the visitor.

At the end of the tour, get involved in a unique hands-on experience and use your creativity to dream big! Our DIY paper doll workshop will allow children to dream up their biggest ambitions and think of the kind of person they would like to be in the future. Whether your boy wants to be an artist or your girl wants to be an architect, they will all walk away with a single, shining ideal: that with hard work and a steely resolve, I Can Do Anything.
Who may attend?
This programme is recommended for families with children aged 5 – 12 years old.
What will your child learn?
Children will gain a foundation-level insight on influential female role models in toymaking and also learn about how gender roles have evolved over time. Through the workshop, they will experience the freedom to dream about the future for themselves and their generation as they realise that gender plays no role in their future career paths.
