Korea-Singapore Jazz Night (2019 Korea Festival)

Korea-Singapore Jazz Night (2019 Korea Festival)

As part of the on-going initiative to promote cultural exchange between Korea and Singapore, the annual Korea Festival presents a musical concert by the hottest artists of the nation in its programme of events.

This year, Korea-Singapore Jazz Night, presented by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, will mark the very first time jazz concert featured in the line-up of the Festival.

Jazz Night will feature two groups of esteemed performers from the local jazz scenes of both countries – the homegrown Jazz Association (Singapore)’s JASS Ensemble led by Music Director and Singapore’s “King of Swing,” Jeremy Monteiro, and Heo So-young, an acclaimed jazz vocalist hailing from Korea, together with her band.

In the first of a three-part act, the JASS Ensemble will be delighting the audience with a repertoire of timeless English jazz classics familiar to all jazz music lovers. In the second half, the Heo So-young band has specially curated a riveting line-up of original compositions and unique covers of renowned Korean and English tunes that will undoubtedly captivate concert-goers with their depth and diversity.

Additionally, the Heo So-young band and the JASS Ensemble will be bringing forth a selection of traditional folk classics from both nations, “Singapura" and “Arirang", in a special collaborative performance that showcases the best of both cultures.

Come join us for an unforgettable evening of delightful music and unwind under the stars.
