These include cultural workshops, interactive storytelling sessions, crafts, and an insightful exhibition. Kids and adults alike can enjoy the Wan Qing Year-End Holiday Programme 2022 together!

(Grand)parent-Child Workshop: Understanding My Family (In collaboration with Genealogy Society Singapore)

  • Date: 26 November 2022
  • Time: 10am – 11.30am, 2pm – 3.30pm
  • Fee: $10 per family of 2 – 3 pax
  • Recommended for children aged 6 and above. The workshop will be conducted in Mandarin.

Ever wondered who are your grandparents’ parents? Trace and discover your family roots with members of the Genealogy Society Singapore in this family-friendly workshop. By the end of the workshop, your children will learn and understand the concept of genealogy, and the unique way Chinese families address their family members and relatives. In conjunction with Grandparents’ Day, the workshop is also a wonderful opportunity for children to bond with their grandparents through the activity.

“Meet My Unusual Family” Interactive Storytelling & Workshop (Presented by The Theatre Practice 实践剧场)

  • Date: 9 December 2022
  • Time: 4.30pm – 6pm
  • Fee: $20 per pax
  • Recommended for children aged 4 to 8 years old. This storytelling and workshop session is conducted in Mandarin.

Guai Guai, a magical monster who is always teased by her family of magical monsters, needs your help to find her special monster powers!

Join us for a 90 mins fun-filled and tactile in-person experience – where children will learn more about self-discovery and acceptance through interactive storytelling, as well as a hands-on arts and craft session. The session is conducted in Mandarin, making this a great way to engage your child in Chinese language and culture.

Parent-Child Workshop: Making Cute Tangyuan (In collaboration with MiracleMoSG)

  • Date: 17 December 2022
  • Time: 10am – 12pm, 2pm – 4pm
  • Fee: $38 per parent-child pair
  • Recommended for participants 6 years old and above. The workshop will be conducted in Mandarin.

Make adorable winter-themed tangyuan (glutinous rice balls) with us in this parent-child workshop! In this popular workshop, you and your child will bond as you learn various skills such as making glutinous rice ball skin, wrapping and shaping of tangyuan, cooking methods and many more. Under the guidance of facilitator, Ms Shirley Tan, you will make four different character designs of tangyuan to bring home to enjoy with the family.

Holiday Craft Kit: Celebrating Dongzhi

  • Date: 18 November – 31 December (except Mondays)
  • Time: 10am – 5pm
  • Admission: Free for Singaporeans and PRs

Kids! Come pick up a DIY craft kit to discover more about this important Chinese festival, Winter Solstice, celebrated by Chinese around the world. Craft kits are given out on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last and one per child.

Travelling Exhibition: Chinese Business Pioneers – Supporting Singapore’s Education

  • Date: 1 November – 31 December (except Mondays)
  • Time: 10am – 5pm
  • Admission: Free for Singaporeans and PRs

The Chinese Business Pioneers – Supporting Singapore’s Education is making its final stop at SYSNMH. This is your last chance to view the exhibition.

The Chinese business community in Singapore has always believed in giving back to society and its people. Co-curated with students from Hwa Chong Institution, this exhibition traces the lives of Chinese business pioneers, Tan Kah Kee, Lee Kong Chian and Tan Lark Sye, who contributed generously to the field of education.

Alternatively, the Memorial Hall is a 20 minute walk from Toa Payoh Station (NS19) or Novena Station (NS20)

Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), from Changi Aiport towards Tuas
Take Exit 17 (Balestier Road/Thomson Road/Upper Thomson Road) onto Jalan Datoh. Turn left at Balestier Road, then turn left at Ah Hood Road. 

Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), from Tuas towards Changi Airport
Take Exit 17D (Thomson Road/Toa Payoh) onto Jalan Toa Payoh. Turn right to stay on Thomson Road. Turn left to Balestier Road, then turn left at Ah Hood Road.

Parking

The Memorial Hall does not offer parking spaces. Visitors may park at Zhongshan Mall, HomeTeamNS-JOM Clubhouse, or Ah Hood Gardens housing estate.
