TickiKids’ Test Patrol Family Visits Newton Show Multi Activity Camp

Newton Show is one of the top science clubs known worldwide and one of the features that distinguishes it from other institutions - it is FUN science! The team offers a lot of enriching workshops, camps, and events for kids aged 3-13 years old where children not just watch the spectacular experiments and amazing miracles, but they also take part in the shows themselves and get to feel like real scientists. Obviously, TikiKids could not miss the possibility to put one of these camps to the test. So, we’ve asked a family of our Test Patrol member Selena Tay to attend Newton Show’s Multi Activity Camp. So, our courageous explorers, Selena's son Skyler Gui (6 yo) and her ex-student's son, Kyler Lau (5yo), went on a mission to find out what was going on in the camp and how interesting it was for the children.

The first day of the camp was a Science day that included Winter Science Lesson, Snow Workshop, Fizzy session and Sciencific Play Dough.

“They were most fascinated by the Fizzy Experiment, whereby they watched the effervescent bubbles rise in the cup illuminated by a light in the dark room. Happy to bring home their self-made Play-Dough for more fun after the camp.” Selena  said.

The second day was dedicated to art with fascinating Yin-Yang Asian Geometrical Art, Ink Stamping, Christmas Card, Polymer Clay Mystery, Math Art, and Stained-Glass Windows.

Both boys, who like Art, enjoyed all the different hands-on activities that day. They were happy to be exposed to different art media for each of the 5 art projects that could all bring home.

Robotics was the main theme of the third day, with Cue robotics introduction, Robot snowball fight, Winter robolympics, Brushi Santa Robot, Dancing and Singing with robots

And our explorers admitted that they enjoyed the session when they programmed their robots to launch balls to their partners to catch, and the mini race competition among their robots. Designing their Brushi Santa Robot and watching them come alive after connecting the wires to the motors were all exciting for them. This day turned out to be Skyler’s favorite day as he enjoyed all the different Robotics activities. The range of toys for them to play with during the breaks is quite varied and caters to different kids with different likes.

The Cooking day brought Christmas Tree Fruit Brownies, Mini Gingerbread house, Reindeer Krispy Pops, and Cheesy Pumpkin Puff Pie

And and as the mother of one of the boys says, the Mini Gingerbread house was the one that they were more involved in, from mixing the ingredients to make the dough, to rolling and cutting out their houses, and to decorating them. They all enjoyed eating the 4 different Christmas Treats that they brought home.

The final day of the camp, Maker day was filled with hands-on activities like Twisted Propeller, Floating Hummingbird, Table Straw Soccer, Wooden 3D Project by Choice, and Cardboard Game.

Boys enjoyed the time when they played with the different games that they made. The Table Straw Soccer and the basketball shooting cardboard game were very fun and interactive.

“What amazed us was how the 2 games fit nicely in a box, with all the other items packed inside, for ease of carrying them home excitedly”, Selena stated.

It was easy for the children to follow the instructions and keep pace with everyone. Explanations by the “professors” for Art, Robotics, Maker Day and the “chef” for Cooking were clear and in greater details than the Science one (but still very engaging and humorous; can see how much the kids enjoyed themselves from their frequent laughters).

And, this camp turns out to be a great place to make new friends as kids socialized with other group members in the group activities for Science, and Robotics. They also played games together during the breaks in between, and in the first hour of warm-up time.

Our explorers would definitely recommend visiting this camp, especially Robotics and Science activities. So, do not hesitate and enroll your kids to one of the enriching and entertaining camps by Newton Show!

The next camp, to be held until 25 August, will be dedicated to various activities like Science, Robotics, Cooking, Art, and Making. Robot battles, science experiments, cooking delicious foods, creating art masterpieces - your kids won't have a minute to get bored!
